A study was carried out on the efficacy of insecticides against diamond back moth, Plutella xylostella L. infesting cauliflower. Among the seven insecticides tested, the lowest larval incidence and increasing yield over control were found in the treatment of tetraniliprole 200 SC followed by emamectin benzoate 5 SG and indoxacarb 14.5 SC. Looking to the cost benefit ratio, the highest return was obtained with emamectin benzoate 5 SG followed by indoxacarb 14.5 SC and cypermethrin 25 EC. Based on overall ranking, emamectin benzoate 5 SG secured 1st rank. Emamectin benzoate 5 SG, tetraniliprole 200 SC and indoxacarb 14.5 SC were thus found effective as well as economical.
