Abstract

The genetic and phylogenetic diversity of the genera within the Calliptaminae subfamily were characterised. using 484 genetic sequences. Operational taxonomic units (mOTUs) were identified and phylogenetic tree was constructed by applying species delimitation approaches (ASAP, ABGD, mPTP, and bPTP). The results provided the first genetic sequence for the genus Sphodromerus and revealed Acoryphaglaucopsis as as new record from North Africa. The robust monophyly of the genus Calliptamus was confirmed and revealed its subclade structuring; and a new putative species identified. These results demonstrate the evolutionary cohesion of Calliptamus but expose methodological divergences in species delimitation.
