Integrated Pest Management of Coconut Rugose Spiraling Whitefly Aleurodicus rugioperculatus Martin

Abstract

Studies on the effect of ecofriendly IPM practices (yellow sticky traps, three rounds of neem oil spray@ 5ml/ l at 15 days interval, three rounds of jet water spray 10 days after spraying neem oil on the incidence, intensity, infestation grade index and mean number of pest stages of rugose spiraling whitefly (RSW) Aleurodicus rugioperculatus Martin infesting coconut palms were undertaken at the Dr. YSRHU-Horticultural Research Station during 2018-2023. Studies highlighted that following IPM practices resulted in decreased RSW intensity from 62.19 to 51.65%, and incidence from 74.26 to 64.55%; also, grade pest intensity from 1.30 to 0.95. Nymphs decreased from 32.58 to 12.19 and pupae from 20.87 to 7.62/ four leaflets. Thus, by following IPM practices in coconut during medium incidence of RSW provides successful IPM.
