Abstract

The study on the seasonal incidence of major insect pests of sesame was conducted at the AICRP on Sesame, Dhenkanal, OUAT for two consecutive kharif seasons during 2022 and 2023. The result revealed that the incidence of Antigatra catalaunalis (Duponchel) started from 30th standard meteorological week (SMW), and reached a peak at 33rd SMW. The incidence of Orosius albicinctus (Distant) and Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) was recorded maximum at 35th SMW. The Cheilomenes sexmaculata (Fabricius) and Apis cerana (Fabricius) incidence was recorded maximum during 34th SMW and 35th SMW, respectively. The correlation between pest incidence and weather parameters showed non- significant positive correlation with maximum and minimum temperature and negative correlation with maximum and minimum relative humidity. Whitefly showed positive correlation with rainfall while, others were negatively correlated.
