Abstract

Pesticide residues in vegetables pose a significant risk to public health, necessitating effective decontamination methods. This study evaluated the efficacy of common household washing techniques in reducing pesticide residues on broccoli curds. A single foliar application of cyantraniliprole 10.26% OD, chlorantraniliprole 18.50% SC, and acetamiprid 20% SP was made, and residues were analysed after treatment with different washing solutions. The results showed that soaking in nimwash, veggie clean, and 2% salt solution effectively removed cyantraniliprole (57.15%), chlorantraniliprole (54.62%), and acetamiprid (69.15%) residues, respectively. These findings highlight practical and accessible approaches to minimizing pesticide exposure, enhancing food safety.
