Laboratory and field experiments were conducted on the effectiveness of some biorational insecticides against the desert locust Schistocerca gregaria Forsskål, and grasshoppers using Hexaflumuron 10% (Dimuron), Emamectin benzoate 9.1% (Emozat), and Spinetoram 6% + Methoxyfenozide 40% (Uphold). According to the lab data, Dimuron had the slowest effect and peaked by day 6, but Uphold and Emozat caused quick mortality (1-3 days post-treatment). Also, tested compounds caused wing malformation, prolonged 5th nymphal instar duration, decreased egg hatchability, and failure of ecdysis. Additionally, they had acceptable efficiency at specified dosages by field tests, especially Uphold, which demonstrated a reduction in locust and grasshoppers populations after two and seven days of 71.43-75.71% and 95.2496.09%, respectively. Therefore, biorational insecticides are advised to control these pests because of their minimal toxicity to humans and animals and safety for the environment and their application complements sustainable management techniques.
