The present study was carried in agricultural fields lying opposite to an in-situ conservation site ‘Bir Talab Zoo and Deer Park’ to study abundance and feeding habits of avifauna. A total of 72 bird species were recorded with Rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameria) (20.08%) being the most abundant annually and during April 2020 (Least human interference due to COVID-19). Passeriformes was the dominant order (31 species) and insectivorous guild was most dominant (38 species) which indicates the presence of abundant and diverse insect food. It was observed that habitat selection depended on presence of feeding materials. In order to avert loss of avian species, habitat conservation as well as restoration is essential.
