Abstract

A study was conducted to evaluate eight different Integrated Pest Management (IPM) modules in Chilli using Randomized Block Design with three replications at Biswanath College of Agriculture, Biswanath Chariali during rabi 2022–23. Four sucking insect pests viz., aphids, thrips, leafhopper, whitefly and one fruit borer were recorded infesting the crop. Among all the modules M4 incorporating black polyethylene mulch, marigold trap crop and neem cake @ 250 kg/ ha proved to be the most effective in suppressing thrips, whitefly and fruit borer population. The lowest aphid population was observed in M6 consisting of seed treatment with Imidacloprid 70% WS at 3g/ kg seed and foliar application of neem oil @ 3 ml/ l. Highest yield was recorded in module M4 (yield-64.80q/ ha; B:C ratio- 2.36). The current investigation provides valuable insights for farmers seeking a sustainable approach which will enable consistent and longterm suppression of pest in chilli cultivation.
