Anthropological Understanding of Climate Change: A Review Essay

Anthropocene is fast developing as a concept and a theoretical paradigm and linked to climate change exigencies of today. This brought anthropos, humans, at the centre of climate change debates. Humans are being considered as the largest contributors towards the existing realities and challenges of climate change. This brings in focus the question of responsibility because anthropos is not a homogenous category and defines, it the diversity and subjectivity of this entity. Therefore, fixing the responsibility over cause and effect of climate change would not be uniform. In this focus, the present review attempts to present how anthropology as a discipline can contribute towards alternative narratives of living with climate change based on its theoretical and methodological tools that are embedded in the local everyday lives of the people.
