Abstract

An investigation was undertaken at College ofAgriculture Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala during 2017-18 to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on nutrient uptake by lowland cassava and its effect on soil physico-chemical properties. The treatments consisted of three sources of organic manure (m1-FYM@12.5th-1, m2-FYM @ 6.25 t ha-1 + green manuring in situ and m -poultry manure (PM) @ 2.5 t ha + green manuring in situ ), two levels of N (50 and 75 kg ha-1 ) and two levels of P (25 and 50 kg P2 O5 ha-1) along with a uniform dose of 100 kg K2O ha -1 . The 3 x 2 x 2 factorial experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The study revealed the superiority of the integrated nutrient management involving practice of green manuring in situ with cowpea, raised along with cassava for higher uptake of nutrients without depleting soil fertility. The application of PM @ 2.5 t ha-1 + green manuring in situ (m )+75: 25:100 kg NPK ha-1 registered the highest uptake of nutrients and tuber yield of cassava var. Vellayani Hraswa in lowlands with improvement in the physicochemical properties of the soil after the experiment.
