The aim of this study was the removal of phenol from aqueous solutions by using immobilized Polyphenol oxidase onto activated bentonite clay by glutaraldehyde. The efficiency of immobilization was 85% from the original enzyme amount. pH profile of free and immobilized enzyme was 6.5 and 7.0, respectively. The optimum temperature of both enzymes was 30°C. Immobilized PPO was stored at 4°C for 21 day without decrease in activity, while retain about 89% of its activity after 30 day of storage. In addition, it retained above 100% of its initial activity after 20 cycles and over than 62% after 30 continuing usages. Immunized PPO completely removal 10 mM of phenol and 4chlorophenol after 5 and 7h of incubation, respectively.
