Now a day's Urban ecology is playing a very important role in increasing the amount of carbon uptake in the cities by planting trees in garden, campuses and houses to mitigate climate change and greenhouse gases. The present study is on the tree diversity of the Tumkur University campus by estimating the tree biomass and carbon sequestration. There are 67 species recorded including 1248 individuals. Among 67 plant species, the maximum carbon sequestration is by Albizia lebbeck (1.63 t tree-1 ) followed by Samanea saman, (1.44 t tree-1 ) and Bombax malabaricum (1.43 t tree-1). High carbon sequestration show strong positive correlation with few variables like number of individuals,density and abundance. Results indicate the potentials of urban ecology and carbon mitigation.
