First record of alexandrine parakeet psittacula eupatria (psittaculidae, psittaciformes) (linnaeus 1766) in Iraq

Alexandrine Parakeet Psittacula eupatria is a medium-sized parakeet species that inhabits South and Southeast Asia to Pakistan and India. Parakeets, including Alexandrine Parakeet, are well-known cage-bird worldwide, and the escapes form captivity might be the key reason of their recent expansions out of their natural range such as the Middle East and beyond. As part of the Iraqi Organization for Conservation of Nature (IOCN) regular surveys in Iraq, the team was able to find this species in Babylon archaeological site for the first time in the wild in Iraq.This paper confirms the firs record ofAlexandrine Parakeet as an addition to Iraq birds checklist.
