Abstract

The acclamatory responses of plants to the changing climate are a subject of debate over the past two decades. Hence, it is prudent to understand the response of tree species in the initial stages, as seed and seedlings, to the elevated CO2 conditions. The study on seed germination, seedling growth and stomatal density analysis of Calophyllum inophyllum L. revealed that, the elevated CO2 negatively affected the germination of the species. But, after the germination, elevated CO2 condition positively influenced the seedling height growth. Stomatal density of the seedlings was negatively affected by the elevated CO2 condition.
