Abstract

Field experiment with 38 varieties was conducted to study the genetic divergence in the mungbean variety atAgricultural University, Jodhpur during Kharif 2019. Significance difference was observed among all 11 characters studied. These genotypes were grouped into nine clusters which indicate the existence of an ample amount of genetic diversity in the variety and therefore signify the scope of selection for genetic improvement of mungbean. The maximum intra-cluster distance was exhibited in cluster I, while the maximum inter-cluster distance was exhibited between II and XI. The greater distance between two clusters indicates the presence of wider genetic diversity among the genotypes of those clusters. Therefore, genotypes belonging to diversified clusters may be used in a hybridization programme for developing the high-yielding variety in mungbean.
