The Al-Tar caves are geologically important sites due to their location in a semi-desert area and proximity to Al-Razzaza Lake in Karbala, Iraq. Multiple surveys were conducted from September 1, 2020, to November 15, 2020, to collect and identify the insect species that occur inside and around these caves. During this investigation, a variety of species were collected from different orders and families. These include Blattodea (Termitidae), Orthoptera (Acrididae), Odonata (Libellulidae), Diptera (Muscidae and Calliphoridae), Coleoptera (Meloidae and Tenebrionidae), and Hymenoptera (Formicidae and Sphecidae). Beetle species showed a high degree of diversity compared to the insect species in other groups during the study period.
