Seasonal Variations of Heavy Metal in Seawater and Sediment from Uppanar Estuary, Cuddalore Coast, India

The current study was carried out to estimate of heavy metal concentration in seawater and sediment samples from industrial area of Uppanar estuary, Cuddalore. Seawater and sediment samples were collected in two different stations during four seasons (post monsoon, summer, pre monsoon and monsoon). The heavy metal concentration was higher in sediment samples were compared with water samples in monsoon season compare with other seasons. The order of heavy metal concentration in seawater and sediment samples was Fe > Cu > Zn > Cd > Cr > Ni.
