Abstract

Mobile communication demands high data rates(bps) and high spectral efficiency(bps/Hz). To achieve high data rate, MIMO technique is considered to be better among the existing system. Precoding, Diversity coding and spatial multiplexing are performed by MIMO systems. Diversity transmits a single stream by using space time coding through all antennas. The MIMO is realizable only when both transmitter and receiver know the channel communication. Pre-coding is a technique which improves the error performance as well as channel capacity. This paper presents the algorithm for Alamouti and OSTBC pre-coding technique. The use of these MIMO techniques along with ZF and MMSE equalization techniques helps to improve the data rate and transmitting range without using additional band width or transmitting power. Different STBC techniques such as pre-coded Alamouti and OSTBC using MATLAB are simulated. The performance and bit error rate of MIMO system is analyzed using BPSK, QPSK and 16PSK.
