The scattering characteristics of simple canonical shapes has inherent applications in detailed radar cross section (RCS) analysis and control of various aerospace structures such as aircraft, missiles, etc. In the present work, a parametric analysis of RCS of finite right circular cylinder is carried out. This simple shape is essential part of most of the structures. The monostatic RCS of a cylinder is analytically determined based on the combination of geometrical theory of diffraction and physical optics. The RCS dependence on design parameters of cylindrical structure is studied towards its optimization and control. Two configurations of cylinder, viz. hollow cylinder and end-plated cylinder are considered.
