Perfusionists are required to keep the skill of judgment and management for security of medical safety. Hence the development of educational systems and the realization of training environment are necessary.
The hi-fidelity perfusion simulator, Extra Corporeal Circulation SIMulator (ECCSIM) is developed and applied to the perfusion education in Japan. This system was composed of the virtual patient model (numerical section) and a hydraulic mock system (hydraulic section). This scheme enables to provide the suitable system configuration according to thetraining phase. Autonomous nerve control was introduced to the simulator and the effectiveness was examined by adopting the training program of novice perfusionists.
The skill of flow and blood pressure control were improved according to the number of training session. However, the introduction of baroreflex control model prevents the superficial improvement of skill by the habituation.
Repetition training using the same simulator may bring habituation. The improvement of the reproducibility of the virtual patient model will be one of a solution. The application of clinical experience will be the important for psychological fidelity. Construction of full scale simulation system will be realized by using the present system.
