A 30 yrs. old female patient who was a diagnosed case of Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) with severe pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH) came for surgical closure of the defect. During the cardio pulmonary bypass (CPB) there was an arterial pump failure which was recognized and managed timely by the perfusion team. We present this case scenario for discussion and management aspects of the pump failure in a scientific, logical and practical way for the young perfusionists to understand. We propose the guidelines to avoid the risk of arterial pump failure during CPB.
