Abstract

At the middle of the case of Double Valve Replacement (Mitral and Aortic) with Tricuspid Valve Repair arterial pump failed. We tried to run it by hand crank but arterial pump was hardly moving at all and showing the error “PUMP JAM”. At that moment team decided to switch the arterial pump to the sucker pump which was working and at the same time brought down the temperature of the patient to 22˚ (hypothermic temperature). Then pump was changed and Cardio Pulmonary Bypass restarted.

After 15 minute, new arterial pump failed again with same problem. So again changed the second sucker pump to arterial pump again and did full case only on two pumps.
