The consumption of water depends on the life style of the population, work and working conditions, climate, culture and food habits etc. The per household and per capita water consumption in the selected households of the Ludhiana city showed that high income groups consume more water than the low income and slum households. The relationship between demographic and socio-economic variables like education, occupation and household income and water consumption was positive. The paper reviews the domestic water consumption pattern and its linkage with socio-economic variables in Ludhiana city.
