A survey was carried out in 30 Japanese quail farms in 22 districts of Tamil Nadu State, to analyze the economics of Japanese quail farming. Total cost of production per Japanese quail was lowest in large farms (>4000 birds), compared to small (< 2000 birds) and medium sized farms (2000–4000 birds). Average gross returns realized per Japanese quail was found to be highest in the medium farms.
