Sustainable agriculture production is possible only with the ensuring of the remunerative price to the farmers, value to the consumers, reasonable return to the industry and stakeholders. An efficient supply chain and value addition through Public Private Partnership (PPP) is one of the key approaches that can make farming as sustainable and profitable. The limitations of efficient supply chain management in agriculture and various strategies for value addition of agricultural product open the avenues for PPP. Hence, present study was conducted in Haryana state in 2017–18 to examine the factors responsible for emergence of PPP in the dairy sector. Factors which are responsible for emergence of PPP were identified in consultation with the experts and extensive review of literature. Primary data were collected from public functionaries related to dairy with the help of a semi-structured schedule. Findings revealed that the main reason for evolution of PPP is for delivering effective service, profit maximization, cost reduction, lack of facilities, human resource and time with public extension system were majorly responsible for emergence of PPPin dairying.
