Abstract

The study was undertaken with the objective to study the adoption of forestry practices for livelihood by respondents in lower Shivalik Hills. Two hundred and forty respondents from Hoshiarpur district of Punjab State and Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh State were selected using multistage random sampling design. The data were collected with the help of interview schedule. Findings of the study revealed that there was a non-significant difference in the mean scores of two districts except in three aspects where a significant difference in the mean scores of the two districts was found. Similarly, majority of the respondents were found to be lying in medium category regarding over all adoption of forestry practices.
