Agriculture is the mainstay of Indian economy where in a tone of grave respect refers to the farmer as the annadata-the provider of grain. Through the centuries, the farmers have been the backbone of the country and yet today, in spite of being in the majority, the farmers in India are in dire straits. Considering above instances, the following research objective has been linked for the study. To study relationship between attributes of respondents and their attitude towards avoidance of agriculture as a profession. The study was conducted in Rajkot and Jamnagar district of Gujarat state because both the district place having the industrial factory, small scale industries and other industrial units are functioning so that employment in their factory available. Total sixteen villages from four talukas were selected randomly. From each selected village, 10 farmers was considered as respondents, thus total 160 farmer, who wants to leave agriculture as a profession, was considered as respondents for the present study. The majority (63.13%) of the farmers had medium attitude towards avoidance of agriculture as an occupation, followed by 23.13 per cent of them had low, 10.63 per cent of them were with high and 3.12 per cent of the farmer had very low attitude towards avoidance of agriculture as a profession. There was positive and highly significant relationship between education, risk orientation and their attitude and also positively and significant relationship between occupation, social participation, mass media exposure and achievement motivation and their attitude.
