Abstract

Extension plays a crucial role in transfer of need based and significant technologies for the betterment of farmers. The goals of agricultural extension include transferring information from global knowledge base and from local research to farmers. It is important for the extension agents to know various concepts of extension before dealing with the clients so that effective information dissemination takes place. The demand of current scenario is to check what kind of attitude an extension worker possesses regarding the concepts of extension as the technologies of extension are dynamic and ever-changing and the concepts are static. The matter of discussion is that whether the concepts are aligned with the modern technologies and whether extension workers are capable of balancing the two. In order to know, their attitudes are measured. The present paper is an attempt to find out the attitude level as well as attitude difference between extension educators and extension service regarding concepts of extension education i.e. principles, objectives, dimensions. Data regarding the study were collected through structured interview administered on 100 extension agents including extension educators and extension service providers in Bhagalpur district of Bihar. Majority of extension service providers had a favorable attitude regarding the concepts of extension education. Extension service providers from the crop-science group showed a difference in their attitude when compared to extension educators regarding the objectives and principles of extension education.
