Tripura with its vast inland water resources offers tremendous scope for developing the fisheries sector. However, the state is lagging in harnessing the potential of these natural resources. Apart from some common constraints, which have been creating hindrance in exploiting the potentials of development of fisheries sector in Tripura; lack of intensive extension activities and the shortfall in trained extension personnel is one of the major constraints to empower the fish farmers in Tripura. In this backdrop, this paper aims to seek the possibilities and scope for the development and deployment of the mobile-based fishery advisory system in the state of Tripura. Modern farming can thrive with the access of up to date information by the farming community at the right time in desired formats from the right sources in the era of the modern approach of rendering agro-advisory services. An in-depth review of different works of literature, reports, and discussions with the departmental officials, different constraints were identified and critically analyzed to justify the possibilities and scope of developing mobile-based fishery advisory in the state, which might result in increased fish production and productivity in the state to match the domestic consumption demand.
