Abstract

Environment Friendly Dairy Farming Practices (EFDFPs) is an approach which includes effective adaptive as well as mitigating practices to combat the negative impact of livestock on environment as well as adverse effect of changing climatic conditions on the livestock. Knowledge level of EFDFPs was operationalized as the confident understanding and comprehension of dairy farmers on all the four domains i.e. breeding, feeding, health care and management of EFDFPs. The steps viz. selection of items; item analysis and pre-testing; calculation of difficulty, discrimination index and point bi-serial correlation; final selection of items; and testing of reliability and validity were followed to develop and standardize the test. The final knowledge test retained 24 items out of 35 raw items. The test was found to be significantly reliable and valid which was indicated by high significant value of reliability co-efficient and content validity. Researchers can use this test, to measure the knowledge level of farmers about various topics which constitute EFDFPs.
