Enhancing yield and income from mustard cultivation by technological intervention using cluster approach

Cluster approach has been used by KVKs to showcase the visible impact of the FLDs at wider scale on the concerned crops. The research is outcome of CFLDs conducted by KVKs located under five agro-climatic zones in Madhya Pradesh. In mustard, total 3116 demonstrations were conducted covering 1340 ha. area using variety - NRCHB-101, Giriraj 2, Rohini, Varuna, Pusa Bold, RVM 2, Pusa Jaikisan, etc. during three consecutive years 2015-16 to 2017-18. Three year average data from these locations revealed that yield of 14.56 q/ha in demonstration plots was obtained with net returns ₹ 38163 per ha and BCR 3.08 as compared local check with yield 10.92 q/ha, net returns ₹ 16758 per ha. with BCR 2.50. The results clearly indicated the positive effects of demonstration over the farmers” practices. Also benefit cost ratio was recorded higher under demonstrations compared to farmer practices.
