Achieving developmental goals have been a central issue of every government and organization. Employees who are progressive and committed towards their work are the assets of every organization. This study is an attempt to understand the decision making ability of Village Developmental Officers of Varanasi District. Covering all blocks of Varanasi which is 8, the whole population was 134. In the present study, data will be presented only of 40 respondents as this is a pilot study. Pretested and self-structured interview-schedule was used in the collection of data. Some statements of decision making ability have been selected as an aspect of job performance which is discussed with help of percentage, mean score and standard deviation distribution in this paper. Also chi square test has been applied to see the relationship between dependent and independent variables. The result showed that most of the VDOs (42.5%) were having bad decision making ability, (32.5%) of the respondents were having good decision making ability and (25.0%) of the respondents were somewhere good at making decisions.
