In the present study the data were collected from randomly selected 260 dairy farmers out of five districts of Punjab, to assess their responses about various attributes of text messages and utility of short message advisory service in dissemination of dairy practices. Results revealed that most of the respondents expressed that messages were timely, useful and quality of SMS was good. Majority of respondents perceived other attributes like frequency (78.07%), content cover (78.84%), applicability (75.76%), understandability (72.30%), completeness (73.84%) and clarity (75.00%) as good. Priority wise potential benefits of short message advisory service as perceived by dairy farmers were “Credible information from institute” (MS=4.47) followed by “SMS Acts as Alert” (MS=4.37), “Received Appropriate information on time” (MS=4.24), “Increase in knowledge” (MS=4.24) “Improvement in farm operations” (MS=4.17), “Received need based information” (MS= 4.12), Develops information bank (MS=3.86), Save Time & money (MS=3.85) and Increase in productivity (MS=3.07). About 48.84 per cent respondents agreed to pay ₹100 per month for regular receiving text message advisory from the GADVASU, Ludhiana, Punjab.
