Abstract

Cotton is one of the most important commercial fiber crops of India. In India, cotton contributes about 85 per cent of the total fiber consumed in the textile industries. The low yield of the cotton could mainly be attributed to the fact that, the farmers have not still adopted all the recommended practices of cotton. A study was conducted in Junagadh district of Gujarat state. Four villages from three random talukas were selected. Ten cotton growers from each village and make a sample of 120 cotton growers who having highest area under cotton cultivation. About two-third (68.33 %) of the respondents had medium level of adoption about recommended practices of cotton. The data on practicewise adoption revealed that very high rate in practices like method of sowing, land preparation, seed rate, interculturing and spacing. These practices were adopted at more than 70.00 per cent level.
