Abstract

Study was under taken in Harda district of MPin central India. This state has record yield potential of the crops but, there is yield gap between farmers yield and yield potential of pulse crops due to traditional cultivation practices and higher seed rate and poor crop management practices. The yield performance of Chickpea was studied through front line demonstration in the year 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16. Existing farmers practice was taken as a control for comparison and recommended HYVs of chickpea JG-130, JG-14 and JG-63 along with soil test value based fertilizer application and integrated crop management practices. The forty six front line demonstrations covering 30 ha area were conducted. The study reveals that an average yield of chickpea under demonstration plots were fetched 19.03 q ha lower control plot 15.31 q ha-1 hence, 24.48 per cent yield was increased over control. The average technology gap was recorded 5.92 q ha, average extension gap 3.77 q ha and average technology index was recorded 23.67 per cent.
