Abstract

Violence against women is a manifestation of unequal power relation between male and female leading to discrimination against women by men and to the prevention of the full-advancement of women. Still now, women, suffer from violence, domestic violence, rape, dowry death, sexual harassment, suicide, forced marriage, coerced prostitution, trafficking and st other psychological problems. Violence against women has become one of the most visible social issues in the 21st century. Violence had negative influences on health outcomes like injury, cardiovascular disease, irritable bowel syndrome, immune effects, and psychosomatic syndromes as well as non-sexual health behaviours such as substance abuse and medication adherence. This is particularly paramount in India, where physical injury and cardiovascular disease together account for over a quarter of disability-adjusted life years lost. Study was conducted in Karnal district of Haryana state. Results regarding consequences, maximum number of respondents reported irritable bowel syndrome, had anger outburst, lack of intimacy with husband, face humiliating, demeaning or undermining remarks or statements and their children live with fear and inability to trust others.
