The study was conducted in Kannauj and Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh of India. There were total four FPOs in Kannauj and six FPOs in Kanpur Dehatdistricts and the researcher, however, selected every three out of four FPOs from each sampled district by simple random sampling technique. Thus, total seven FPOs were selected for the study. Further, five (5) board of member from the operational area of each FPO were sampled to ascertain the constraints, thus the total 35 board of members were selected from seven FPOs. To ascertain the constraints weightage mean score of each item was calculated and given rank on the basis of obtained score. The findingsrevealed that, 'less involvement of youth, (WMS, 2.57) was the major constraints, followed by'lack of adequate number of godowns, store houses, 'lack of sufficient number of vehicles for transport, and 'lack of well-developed processing facility, (WMS, 3)as marketing constraints;'lack of funding & lack of policy measures, (WMS, 2.08) as financial constraints, 'dominance by some elected leaders, (WMS, 1.88) in governance of BODs and in last issue in input supply 'delay in getting licenses for inputs' (WMS, 3) were the major constraints faced by the board of members for running the FPOs.
