Rural women play a pivotal role in agricultural and rural economies in all developing countries. They play key roles by working with full passion in production of crops right from the soil preparation till post harvest activities. The study focused on role of rural women in potato growing activities. The study was conducted in kannauj districts of Uttar Pradesh. Using structured interview schedule data from 300 farm women randomly sampled from 10 selected villages were collected. Interview schedule was used to collect information from rural women on their socio-economic characteristics, their participation in farm activities and their role in various potato growing activities. The 30.3 per cent farm women participated in seed selection activity, 14.7 per cent of respondents participated in harvesting of potato, 13.7 per cent participated in weeding and earthing activity, 11.7 per cent of respondents participated in roughing of diseased and off type plants, 12.0 per cent of respondents participated in sorting and grading of potato, 5.7 per cent respondents participated in FYM application, 3.0 per cent of farm women participated in potato growing activities such as potato planting while, 2.7 per cent of respondents carried the harvested produce from field to store, 4.3 per cent of respondents participated in fertilizer application in potato growing while, 2.0 per cent of farm women were engaged in application of fungicide. Potato farmers as well as farm women had equal access to the production resources and farm benefits.
