The study was conducted in Hapur district of Western Uttar Pradesh, with an objective to know the socio-economic status of Potato growers. Empirical data were collected personally from 80 respondents’ five villages through structured interview schedule and analyzed using standard methodology. Findings revealed that the majority of the potato growers were found upper middle age category group of46-60 years 48.75 per cent, other backward caste 60 per cent, married 95 per cent, literate 92.50 per cent, joint families 65 per cent, families size of medium category 5–8 members 61.25 per cent, Pucca type of housing pattern 88.75 per cent, the medium respondents with a land holding 4 to 10 hectare 36.25 per cent, owned irrigation sources 59 per cent. It was also observed that of agriculture is main and business as subsidiary occupations. The maximum 51.25 per cent, respondents were use as small dairy size and 38.75 per cent, respondents were found such who had the earning annual income of ?50,001/-to ?1,00,000/-.The mobile phone and television was found as main communication media with the potato growers. While determining the economic motivation of the respondents it was found that maximum (77.50%) respondents had medium level of economic motivation.
