The present paper investigates about socio economic status and chilli crop cultivation practices by farmers in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. The study data were collected from 300 farmers (150 trainees trained by KVK and 150 non trainees). A pre-tested interview schedule was used for data collection. Findings revealed that a major share (44.67%) of the trainees were in the middle age group. 31.33 per cent of non-trainees were illiterate. A majority of trainees and non-trainees had farming as an occupation. The trainees had medium level of extension contact (formal) and (informal). The trainee and non-trainee had low level of mass media exposure. The trainees had medium level of decision-making ability whereas the non-trainees had low level of decision-making ability.
