Perception of scientists towards application of ICT tools

Abstract

ICT is a set of techniques evolved to manage information and move it from one place to another. This covers a broad range of solutions, which include techniques for storing information and later retrieving it. In the last several decades information communication technology has provided a wide track to communication capabilities. Now a days with this new technology, people can easily communicate with each other from one place to another such as instant messaging and video-conferencing, through social networking websites like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram etc. Information communication technology promotes the productivity, efficiency and stability of the agricultural sector. ICT application in agriculture is to provide accurate information in local language at affordable cost among the farming community. Therefore, traditional agriculture is turning into high-tech agriculture and updated knowledge is also needed to upsurge agricultural production and productivity. A study was undertaken on 210 Krishi Vigyan Kendra Scientists of Rajasthan. The result of the study depict that the perception of scientists towards application of ICT tools, the statement “Tools are helpful in carrying out extension activities like training, demonstration, field day, kisan mela, campaign etc” is Ranked -I with mean 3.88 and lowest perception goes to the statement “ICT tools are highly time consuming which calls for boredom in extension work” with mean 1.44 and Rank-XXVIII among the overall statements.
