Abstract

Performance of cole crops in low tunnel is successful technological intervention in remote changthang region and is boon to all types of farmers due to its cheap portable and easy installation. The yield recorded in cabbage (780qt/ha) and cauliflower (720qtl/ha) are higher inlow tunnel as compared to the open conditions(266.6qtl/ha and 500qtl/ha)with high net returns respectively. High value crop like broccoli are newly introduced and successfully recommended under low tunnel due to its delayed bolting, compact head and long harvest duration. The adoption percentage is 80 per cent and its area is expanding owing to its nutritional value and taste. Likewise, late varieties cauliflower PSB-1 is recommended due to its compact white curd and good curd weight (1kg). Cabbage var. mitra being late varieties recorded maximum head weight of 1.300 kg and good shelf life for winter consumption.
