Due to the dearth of a suitable scale for measuring the knowledge of dairy farmers about improved dairy farming practices in Jammu district of J&K, it was necessary to construct a knowledge test for the purpose. Therefore, an attempt was made to develop a test for measuring the knowledge of dairy farmers about improved dairy farming practices. Relevant statements covering five major aspects of animal husbandry viz., breeds and breeding, feeding, housing, milking and health care and hygiene were collected. After getting a jury opinion on the items, item difficulty index, item discrimination index, the reliability and validity were worked out. For administering the knowledge test, a respondent was given one mark for each correct answer and a zero mark for each wrong answer. Sixty one statements were finally selected out of the total seventy eight statements.
