Enhancing socio economic status of farmers through seed societies in Jabalpur district (M.P.)

Abstract

Better results may be achieved when a group of people having similar status and interest are selected seed societies have been registered under the societies Act. Seed is the most basic, critical and vital input for the sustainable growth in productivity of crops. Atotal 66 seed societies registered in Jabalpur district. Out of them 7 seed societies and 20 respondents were selected in each seed society total 140 respondents were selected. The study revealed that the members of society belongs to medium group of age, education, land holdings, annual income, skills. While Level of participation, leadership ability, market linkage decision making seed replacement rate is low group. Hence it is suggested that the members requires to increase the coordination reduced the conflict in the welfare of Society. The seed societies may increase the cropping intensity, Crop productivity, socio economic status of farmers and sparkling happiness on the face of small and marginal farmers.
