The study was conducted in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh to assess the present status of mango orchardists with the objective of socio-economic background of mango orchardists. The Meerut district has comprised 12 community development block which two blocks namely Sardhana and Machhara were purposely selected according to need and availability of mango orchardists. On the basis of maximum area and production. 10 orchardists were selected from each selected village randomly with the help of progressive orchardists and village pradhan, thus the total sample size of 80 orchardists were selected for the present investigation. It was found that 41.25 per cent mango orchardists were belongs to the age group of 46-60 years, 52.50 per cent were belongs to Other Backward Caste, literate 86.25 per cent, family size of medium category 5-8 members 53.75 per cent. The maximum orchardists were having land holding size 2-4 ha of land 43.75 per cent, 43.75 per cent respondents were belongs to the annual income category between 1, 00,000/- to 2, 00,000/-, 48.75 per cent orchardists were participating in more than one organizational activities.
