Knowledge of the members about the farmer producer organizations

Knowledge is an understanding of something such as facts, information, descriptions, which is acquired through experience or education by perceiving, discovering or learning. It plays a vital role in covert and overt behaviour of the human beings. It is apparent that if members of FPOs are well aware of the FPO activities then they will be able to gain more benefits from FPO. Therefore an attempt was made to find out the knowledge of members about Farmer producer Organizations about concept, registration process, objectives and election process of Farmer Producer Organizations, services provided by NABARD, POPI and FPO, backward and forward linkages etc. Interview Schedule was used to gather information from 320 members of selected FPOs in Udaipur district. It was found that both the respondents possessed the knowledge of FPO formation, Producer Organization Promoting Institution (POPI) and financial support agency to the extent of 62.92-69.02 MPS. Further mean percent knowledge score of female regarding functioning of FPO and backward forward linkages ranged between 27 to 27.63 MPS. The overall knowledge of male members was observed more in comparison to female members of the FPOs.
