Farmers’ preferred information sources and channels for wheat productivity in intermediate zone of J&K

Abstract

The present study was conducted in purposively selected Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir to study the communication behavior of randomly selected 200 wheat growers. The data were collected with the help of pretested interview schedule by personal interview method. The collected data were analyzed by using simple statistical methods like frequency and mean percent score. It was found that nearly three-fourth of the respondents had medium level of awareness of communication sources and channels. Input dealers (MPS 89.00), progressive farmers (MPS 97.00) and radio (MPS 79.00) were the foremost personal cosmopolite, personal localite and impersonal cosmopolite sources and channels of communication known to the wheat farmers for getting the information on productions recommendations of wheat. Respondents were mostly aware of personal localite sources and Kisan Vani was the foremost broadcast known to the wheat farmers.
