Abstract

Frontline Demonstration (FLD) Programme on pulses was conducted by the ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur on Chickpea, Pigeonpea, Field pea, Lentil, Mung bean and Cow pea during the year 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 & 2020-21 in different districts of Uttar Pradesh to demonstrate the potential yield from different technologies. The study revealed that variety JG16, JG-14, RVG 202 & RVG 203 of chickpea, IPFD 10-12, IPF 4-9, Aman, Prakash & HFP- 529 of field pea, IPL-316 biofortified variety of lentil, IPM-2-3, Virat & Shikha variety of Mungbean, IPA-203 of pigeonpea and Pant lobiya-3 variety of cowpea outperformed the prevailing varieties. It was observed that average increases in the grain yields were 42.13, 34.93, 34.17, 30.95, 26.29 and 20.14 per cent in case of chickpea, pigeonpea, lentil, fieldpea, summer mungbean and cowpea, respectively. Maximum average yield increment (42.13%) was recorded in case of chickpea. The difference in yield between the FLD plots and check plots was highly significant irrespective of location and crops.
