Abstract

In this paper a new method of compression of digital binary sequences of a tele text (facsimile) scan line is introduced. The scheme is superior to the commonly used standard CCITT variable length codes which are very large in number specifically 183. As the proposed scheme uses not only multiples of 144 white and 144 black pixels, but also multiples of 13, the number of bits in the 12th and 7th terms of Golden sequence, total number of code words is only 71. As such it requires less memory for construction of coding and decoding lookup tables.
