Abstract

Among the greatest of all services that can be rendered by men to Almighty God, is the education and training of children, so that they can foster by grace in the way of salvation, growing like pearls of divine bounty in the shell of education and will be one day the jewel in the crown of abiding glory. School teachers are the most important group of professional for our nation's future. Therefore, it is astonishing to know that even today many of the schoolteachers are dissatisfied with their jobs. Job satisfactions among school teachers are good not only for themselves but society as a whole. It increases productivity and classroom performance in the schools. Teachers are the source of guidance in all the crucial steps in the academic life of the students. When the teachers are satisfied in their job at that time only they have interested to teach students with efficiently and effectively. The purposes of this study were to study the level of job satisfaction of teachers teaching in secondary schools in Tiruchirappalli District of Thirupparainthurai with regard to the personal characteristics and job characteristics with that of some of the aspects of job satisfaction (work, income, working condition self-esteem, etc.).
